AirChair is a user-operated motorized transportation solution for commercial air travelers with ambulatory needs. I pursued this topic because of my interests in aerospace design and desire to conduct research in this area. The AirChair was showcased in the exhibition, The Road Ahead: Reimagining Mobility, at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City.
In hotter urban climates like Phoenix, Arizona that have extreme heat issues and potential security threats from big city public transportation, there are design opportunities for commuters who use multiple forms of transportation. As discovered during the research phase, many commuters bike to a train location and then take the train to a farther location and continue riding. This is the identified target market I discovered and designed for. Glide is the solution for bag security and sweat reduction in hotter climates.
